Join our new recruit program

Roller derby classes are starting soonOur next new recruit class will begin on Wednesday, March 27. It’s a 16 class non-contact program that will prepare you to learn to play or officiate roller derby.

We’ll teach you everything you need to know at a pace that works for you. You’ll start with the basics, like how to gear up, and move on to how to skate, stop, and fall safely. No previous skating experience is required! Just bring your enthusiasm and protective gear; we’ll help you with the rest.

New recruit intake occurs monthly, usually the final Wednesday of each month. Dates will be posted here and to our Facebook pageand emailed to registrants. There are only 10 spots each month for skaters and skating officials, and we book first come first serve, so don’t delay!

The fee for the new recruit program is $90.00*

Bay State league practices run twice a week, on Wednesdays from 8:00-10:00 PM and Sundays from either 5:30-7:30 PM or 10:30AM-12:30PM, at Roll On America90 Duval Rd, Lancaster, MA. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to practices to get geared up, as on-track practice begins promptly. You must be 18 or older to join the league as a skater. However, anyone is welcome to participate in our New Recruit Program, as there are many ways to be involved in derby, from skating and non-skating officials, to coaches and trainers.

To attend your first class, you’ll need the following:

  • A copy of your driver’s license or state ID
  • Your insurance card (health care coverage is required)
  • Your gear, including helmet, mouth guard, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards
  • Quad roller skates

All of the gear you need can be purchased locally from our sponsor, the Bruised Boutique, in Nashua New Hampshire. Mention you’re a new skater and they will hook you up! Alternately, we have some loaner gear available if you need it for the first class or two.

By your second class, you will need to purchase additional insurance through the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) website. All individuals who skate with us are required to carry this insurance.

*Please note that sign-up fees are non-refundable, but may be applied toward a future class.
