Bay State Brawlers Roller Derby is Central MA’s premiere nonprofit women’s roller derby league. A skater-operated 501c3 nonprofit organization, 2023 will be Bay State's 11th season playing competitive roller derby (there was no season in 2021,) and its eighth as an internationally-ranked member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). In that time the league is proud to have become the second most highly-ranked WFTDA league in Massachusetts.
WFTDA is the largest international governing body of women’s flat track roller derby, with a mission to promote and foster the sport of women’s flat track roller derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportsmanship, and goodwill among its 450+ member leagues (and growing)! WFTDA sets standards for rules, seasons, and safety, and determining guidelines for the national and international athletic competitions of member leagues.
We are the premiere female, non-binary, gender nonconforming roller derby league in Central Massachusetts. Our mission is to provide a welcoming and safe environment for all to develop and explore their strengths as skaters, officials, and individuals.
Our core values of hard work, open communication, and fun competition encourage physically challenging and rigorous training, dedication to the quality and safety of the sport, and a commitment to community.
Since the pandemic shutdown, we have had to make some difficult financial decisions, and have been impacted by others', one of the biggest being the closure the practice space we called home for more than ten years.
While our search for a permanent practice space continues and we map our way back to spectator events, our funds deplete. Despite some financial support from member dues, merchandise sales, and paid programming, our future depends the support of our community.
Our search for a new practice home has been greatly complicated due to the pandemic, our financial situation, and the changing real estate market -- but we believe Bay State is worth fighting for!
Your support and contributions make it possible for us to continue to be competitive in the real estate market, and to continue to offer quality amateur sport opportunities to local residents.
Thank you for your support!
