Not just something. Something GREAT. The roller derby community has an incredible energy, and is unique among adult sports, in that there really is a role for almost everyone. Join Team Derby. We’re going global.
I am here to tell you, if I can do it, you absolutely can. If you don’t at least check out this class, you’re cheating yourself out of the coolest thing you will ever do!

New Recruit intake occurs monthly, usually the final Wednesday of each month. Dates will be posted here and to our Facebook page, and emailed to registrants. Classes run twice a week, for eight weeks, on Wednesdays from 8:00-10:00 PM and Sundays from 5:30-7:30 PM, at Roll On America, 90 Duval Rd, Lancaster, MA. (Sunday practices are variable, and subject to change.) Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to practices to get geared-up, as “on-track” practice begins promptly.
Sign up (Duh.) Then, you need to gear up! We recommend purchasing your own quad roller skates and safety gear including: helmet, mouth guard, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. All of the items you need can be purchased locally from our sponsor, the Bruised Boutique, in Nashua NH. Mention you’re a new skater and they will hook you up!
Bring with you to your first class: your driver’s license (or state identification,) your insurance card (health care coverage is required,) $90 cash/check (if you have not pre-paid,) and a pair of sneakers (we begin off-skates.)
The registration fee of $90.00, for your 16 new skater classes, must be paid in full before your take the track. Your registration fee is non-refundable, but may be transferred or credited toward a future class. All participants must purchase WFTDA insurance by their second class. WFTDA insurance is pro-rated, but is renewed annually at a rate of $75. Upon completion of the class, league membership is available at a rate of $45/month.
You must be 18 or older to participate. Bay State welcomes to skate with us any person who identifies as a cis woman, trans woman, intersex woman, and/or gender expansive, if Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby is the version and composition of roller derby with which they most closely identify. All adults are welcome to officiate.
